Organic search hit 110K in September 2025, AlgoTest's highest ever

My KPIs were two numbers: how much money we made and how many users we acquired. Everything below was aimed at one of them.

My role

  • Head of Marketing and Content at AlgoTest, a YC-backed algo trading platform.
  • I wrote every word we put out: messages, introductions, ad and landing page copy, down to the banner for our March 2025 event.
  • Three teammates left in my first month, so I took on their work too, including the webinars.

Vertical 1

Organic growth

Organic search had its best month ever in September 2025: seven days above 100K, peaking at 110K on the 6th. Before I joined, the best day was 61K. Since I left, no day has passed 80K.

What I saw

68.5% of organic traffic came from people searching "AlgoTest". We were only being found by people who already knew us. Growth had to come from the searches traders make before they've heard of us: expiry days, open interest, FII/DII data, reviews of other tools.

The bet: own those searches with blogs, programmatic pages and docs, then turn the traffic into paying users.

Blogs

Non-brand search grew 2.7× from January to September 2025, and 3.4× from its April low. Branded share of organic fell from 68.5% to 49.3% (Jan → Aug).

  • I planned the blog around trader searches and turned founder webinars and tweets into articles.
  • I wrote every post that went live between Dec 2024 and Jan 2026: 75 in all, except one by the founder.
  • #1 for "algo trading" (22.2K searches a month).

Programmatic SEO

I led the SEBI research analyst directory: ~1,500 pages, live in June 2025, #2 for "list of registered sebi ra".

  • I owned it end to end: PRD, data and scraping, design, the engineering handoff, content and testing.
  • It's one of four programmatic products. Across the site, ranking keywords grew 2,028 → 3,650, and keywords in the top 3 went from 51 to 87.

Docs

docs.algotest.in ranks for 283 keywords, 49 in the top 3 and 22 at #1. Nine months after I left, it still brings ~9.1K visits a month, worth ~$4.3K a month in ad spend.

  • Every feature launch and new broker integration got its own docs page. I wrote every page that went live from Dec 2024 to Jan 2026 and reworked the older ones.

Landing and product pages

I rebuilt the 27 quick-link pages in AlgoTest's footer with a new design and more information, and wrote three from scratch.

Fixing what held search back

Experiments

ExperimentWhat happened
Daily Straddle Heatmaps (one month): a data post every trading day, on the blog and AlgoTest's X account30–40K views on X, and a lot of conversations with traders
Chartink automation guides (one month): 20 guides on automating Chartink scanners with AlgoTestLittle search traffic, so we stopped. The best one still gets ~33 visits a month

Vertical 2

Partnerships

Partners paid ~₹6L, and one partnership became a new service.

  • Led broker partnerships, including Groww. Groww paid ~₹3L for a joint webinar.
  • Got our founder invited to Breakfast with Traders, Groww's in-person event, and set up an episode of Groww's Trading Ki Baat podcast with AlgoTest's COO, Chintan Jaggi.
  • Two research analysts paid ₹3L for advertising and organic marketing. It became a new service.

Vertical 3

Webinars

Webinars brought in ~₹10L a month, so every week had to go right. I ran them end to end for my first four months, then kept half the work until I left, so they stayed smooth and customers stayed happy.

30%of sign-ups for two new webinars came from my onboarding emails
  1. Get the word out: decided what went live on ads, put webinar popups on the docs and blog, got the webinar mentioned in YouTube videos, and added it to onboarding.
  2. Sign-ups and payments: sent reminders, kept payment links live, and wrote landing page copy, working with devs to ship it.
  3. Onboarding: rewrote the onboarding email sequence, the source of that 30%. Onboarded attendees with the team and managed the communities.
  4. Tracking: logged every paid user's acquisition channel and first touchpoint.
  5. Lifecycle: built cohorts for weekly WhatsApp campaigns in WebEngage (I wrote the messages and briefed the designer). Ran email campaigns for retention, and to re-activate churned users by upselling products that fit them.
  6. Handoffs: made lists for sales to reach out to, and briefed support so they could answer webinar queries.

What didn't work: I built course pages on AlgoTest to cut the back-and-forth with sales. People had too many questions and wanted to talk to someone before paying.

How it connects

  1. Trader searches
  2. blogs, programmatic pages and docs
  3. popups on docs and blog
  4. webinars (~₹10L a month)
  5. paid users tracked by first touch
  6. WhatsApp and email cohorts
  7. retention and upsells
  8. sales follow-up
  9. Back to more content from webinars and founder tweets
